Finally said ‘I do’

The wedding ceremony is one of the most romantic moments in life and the perfect place to express feelings towards each other. 26^th November 2011 marked our wedding day which was held at Nkana East Chapel around 09:00hrs and blessed by Reverend James Kabala. I was anxiously waiting for this day to come as it was the beginning of our marriage life with Racheal. I have a lot to write about this precious moment of my life but let me be brief and stick to the point.

I finally said ‘I do’ to the woman I have loved and known for the past few years. I have been in a relationship with Racheal for over 4 years and we really had a lot of ups and downs in our relationship but I want to thank God for the people that helped us to pull through all the trials and differences that we faced; Mr. Bestone Chileya who was off his busy schedule to offer counseling to us and also Mr. Simon Chilongoshi who played a vital role not only as my boss at work and fellow church mate at Trinity Baptist church but also as my confidant. I thank you so much for helping us.

 I met my wife in 2006 through her elder sister Melissa who was my classmate and a very good friend while in college. We started relating officially on 21^st May 2007 and I do remember every bit of what happened that day. Racheal showed me the true meaning of love and I don’t regret knowing her. She has been a source of encouragement when things become tough to a point of giving up, indeed as Cece Winans sang, “It wasn’t easy but it was worth it…” can be a true testimony to what we went through.

As my beautiful bride walked down the aisle in church with her father coming towards me where stood, my heart began bump fast. I must have been the happiest person amongst the people in the church though of course other people were also happy for us.

What may come, I will always be there. As I have given you my hand to hold, so I give you my life to keep“

“Obvi, you have been the sweetest part of my life for so long. You are the most kind and loving person I have ever met. I love you more today than I loved you yesterday but definitely not as much as I will love you tomorrow because I keep falling in love with you. I love you so much and sure hope Yahweh will grant me more grace to be a good helper, to submit to you and to bring myself under your subjection come what may. From this day, your life will not go unnoticed because I will notice it; your life will not go unwitnessed because I will be your witness. I love you”

As I looked at Racheal in her eyes as she said her vows to me, I began to reflect on what she told me sometime back, she said “The ball is in your hands and if you want it to remain, it can remain… if you don't want it, you can let go". My dream of marrying Racheal finally arrived and I will always thank God for her and I vow to love her with all my heart.

When I was in Kitwe working for C&B Engineering, I used to see Racheal everyday and each day I was with her, I felt a sense of completeness. In December last year, I found a better job in Lusaka and relocated, I really felt like quitting my new job at Tata Zambia because the adjustment from seeing Racheal everyday to being in a far off place and only talking to her on phone made me feel a sense on loneliness. I made sure that I travel back to Kitwe twice every month during weekends to see her. Now that we are married, she is relocated to Lusaka to join me.
